Thumb Tanks

Here’s how Pixelrain Studios helped bring the upcoming PvP tank game “Thumb Tanks” to the next level with the “Game Design Feedback” service.

Client’s Request

While Thumb Tanks was already a great game when I stepped in, the client wanted to more effectively translate the mechanics of the game to new players, and overall wanted to improve the gameplay experience in order to provide the best gameplay experience possible.

Our Approach

I started by playing their title, and took note of potential areas of improvement. From there, I neatly formatted those problem areas into a document, and proceeded to conceptualize potential solutions to said gameplay problems. Things like improving how the HUD translates to the player, providing potential improvements to movement, game feel, systems and the overarching core gameplay loop. By the end of the project, I delivered a 7-page document filled with helpful solutions designed to improve the overall feel of the game, improve retention rates, help ease new users into the game, and much more.
